The Great Migration

The Great Migration has different stages, and this is quite important in planning your safari. DOTAS has deeper knowledge and experience in all stages and movements of the migration and has formed close relationships with the camps and lodges around so as to give you an amazing experience.

Marangu Route Itinerary

Day One

Pick up from Kilimanjaro International Airport to the Mountain Inn in Moshi for your overnight.

Day Two

Breakfast and a briefing from a guide. 9 AM: From Moshi to Marangu; 45 minutes drive. Registration with the National Park, begin hiking at 10:30 AM. Rest at Mandara Huts at 2 PM and dinner at 7 PM.

Day Three

7.30 AM Breakfast. 8.30 hiking through open moorlands, at arrive at Horombo at 3 PM where you see Kibo's summit while preparing for dinner.

Day Four

Wake up very early, breakfast and photography of sunrise. Hiking through the sweeping saddle connecting Kibo and Mawenzi.

Day Five

Wake at midnight to a light breakfast. 1 AM hiking and reach Gilman’s Point between 5 and 7 AM. By 9 AM arriving at the Uhuru Peak, by 9 AM. Descending back to Horombo for a dinner.

Day Six

Descend to Mandara Huts and have lunch. Continue to the park gate you should reach around 2 or 3 PM. A pick up up back to Mountain Inn, where it is definitely time for celebration!

Day Seven

Depart for the airport or other destinations in Tanzania or Kenya. A trip to the beaches at Zanzibar is a good way to recuperate.
