3 Days - Rubondo Island National Park

Rubondo Island has two routes to access.

Kamanga / Nkome route is short by road( Rough road and bumpy) but long by lake from the shore to the Island takes up to two hours cruise with fiber boats. For those who like to enjoy Lake cruising adventure this will be their suitable route.

Busisi/ Muganza route is long by road (Tarmac) but very short from the shore to the Island. Will take 15 – 20 minutes only. For those who have fear by travelling in water for a long time, choose this route.

You can as well book for a charter flight through us if at all you don’t wish to travel by road or water.


DOTAS 008: THREE DAYS/TWO NIGHTS (NKOME ROUTE)



DAY 1 - MWANZA - RUBONDO

After breakfast meet our Driver/Guide at the Hotel or wherever you stay in Mwanza.

With your lunch boxes Cross with the first ferry to the other side of the lake, which can take you about a half an hr, then drive with our Safari car on rough road which leads you to Nkome village 113 km away.

Board a boat from Nkome to Rubondo Island National Park. From Nkome to Rubondo, it takes up to two hours in the lake, depending on the lake condition, which is one of the adventures you will experience. Arrive in the Island in the afternoon for Leisure walks in the forest with Armed Ranger, evening turn back to the Camp / or Park Banda for resting time and a night stop.

DAY 2 - FULL DAY AT RUBONDO PARK

Take breakfast; afterwards take a boat for bird watching.

Actually Rubondo Island is best for birders, along the lake you’ll spot African Fish Eagle hunting fish, Cormorants, King Fishers of all species, Night Herons, Goliath Heron, Grey Heron, Ibises, Water thick knee, just to name a few, sail back to the camp for lunch.

After lunch take a boat and go for sport fishing, great opportunity to catch Nile Perch which is the main commercial fish for local community around Lake Zone, Tilapia fish will also be available in plenty in the lake.

Back in the evening for dinner and stay overnight,

DAY 3 - RUBONDO - MWANZA

After breakfast at the Camp or Banda, board again the Boat which will take you to Nkome Village, there you’ll meet our Driver/ Guide who will drive you back to Mwanza.



DOTAS 009: THREE DAYS/TWO NIGHTS (MUGANZA ROUTE)



DAY 1 - MWANZA - RUBONDO NATIONAL PARK

After taking breakfast in Mwanza city, start a journey to Muganza by crossing with Ferry to the other side of the Lake Victoria.

Passing through Geita Region where great gold mines are located, proceed to Chato for lunch, after lunch you’ll be taken to Muganza where you’ll catch a Boat to Rubondo Island National Park.

In less than 30minutes you’ll be in the Park for relaxation & an evening walk in the forest guided by armed Rangers. Stay overnight at the Luxury tented camp or Park Hostels as you may have booked.

DAY 2 - FULL DAY AT RUBONDO NATIONAL PARK
